BT: We've got the new 122 pound WBC champ, Rafael Marquez here on BoxingTalk. Rafael give us your thoughts tonight on your fight against Vasquez. "Israel Vasquez is a geat champion. He got me in the third round. He showed his quality at that time, but I showed my quality.  When I got up, because of the great conditioning that I have, I got up and won this fight."
BT: Describe what happened, in that 3rd round it looked like you had Vasquez in trouble, then you got caught. What happened there?RM: It was a big mistake, because I knew I had him. I let my hand down, when I wasn't supposed to, and he got me, but I got up and won this fight.
BT: From the beginning of the fight it looked like you were out jabbing him superbly. Was the whole game plan to come in there and out jab Vasquez?RM:  To win a fight, it's not only the jab. There are combinations and other punches. It seemed like that jab was hitting straight to his face, so that's why he continued to jab.Â
BT: Do you now vacate the IBO IBF 118 pound title?RM: Yes, now I'm a world champion for 122, and I want to sweep the division at 122. Obviously, I need to prepare myself twice as hard for whatever comes.
BT: Last question, the next time we see you in the ring again, will it be against Vasquez, too?RM: Probably. First, I would like Israel Vazquez to get well. For me, I might do another fight before fighting Israel Vazquez, but I don't know yet.Â
BT:Â Thank You very much, congratulations.
