The WBA has scheduled a second purse bid for August 27th at its Houston offics. The WBA will conduct the bidding process to determine the promotional right for a mandatory cruiserweight championship bout between reigning WBA champion Gilberto Ramirez (pictured) and former IBF champion Yuniel Dorticos, which will take place in Houston, Texas, on August 27th. Ramirez became a two-division champion earllier this year, taking the WBA cruiserweight title from Arsen Goulamirian. From Mexico, Ramirez is now 46-1. He gave up his super middleweight title in 2019 and lost a 2022 light heavyweight title shot to Dmitriy Bivol. Dorticos (27-2) held the IBF cruiserweight title from 2019-2020. His reign ended with a loss to Mairis Briedis. From Cuba, Dorticos had a tune-up win over Alan Campa in June.
On Friday the WBA's communication was sent to both fighters’ teams through official channels. The purse bid will be conducted by the Vice Chairman of the committee, Julio Thyme at 11:00 a.m. local time. The minimum amount to obtain the rights to the fight will be $200,000.00 and the purse split will be 75% for the champion Ramirez and 25% for the challenger Dorticos.
On the same day, the WBA purse bid for the bridgerweight world title fight between Muslim Gadzhimagomedov and Leon Harth will be held.
