Margarito-Judah unlikely due to "insulting" offer
GL: There's been a lot of speculation that you could be fighting Antonio Margarito on April 26. What can you tell us about that? "As it stands right now we're debating a lot of things about that fight. At this point in time I do not wish to declare any names at this point, but in the near future to come, you will hear Zab Judah's next opponent right here on Boxingtalk.com, and we're looking at some time in April."
GL: What kind of discussions have you and your people had with Arum? Have offers been made that you unhappy with?Zab Judah: "Bob Arum is a good promoter and he's great at what he does. He's one of the best out there. He just put a deal on the table that didn't fit into my plans right now. At this current time and the position that I'm in, based on the deal he offered, it wasn't needed."
GL: Does that mean that he shortchanged you?ZJ: "No. It just means I'm worth more than he offered me. I'm at the point of my career where there will be no more losses. If somebody is trying to get me a loss, they have to make it well worth it and the money that Bob Arum was offering us, I was almost ready to take it out of my pocket and show it to him."
GL: How do you feel about Miguel Cotto fighting Alfonso Gomez on the same card that you were supposed to be fighting Margarito on?ZJ: "I think that Cotto is a great fighter and he's fighting a guy from the Pretenders so he should be all right. But the fight is some bullshit, I'm going to make this clear to everyone on Boxingtalk.com right now. If Bob Arum offered us what he's offering Gomez, we'll take it and fight Cotto again. Cotto fought a Zab Judah who wasn't at his best and now that I'm ready, all they have to do is offer me what they offered Gomez and I'll fight Cotto again on April 26."
"If Mr. Arum would like to put that deal on the table, we gladly accept. Cotto is a great fighter and he shouldn't be fighting Pretenders, he should keep fighting real contenders and champions. Arum is dying to make a fight with Margarito and Cotto and you have to think about it, they're fighting on the East Coast and I'm one of the few fighters here who can sell tickets. My dream is to fight Cotto again at Yankee Stadium and I guarantee you I can sell that shit out too, and my name ain't even A-Rod."
"If Miguel Cotto wants to keep giving the fans what they want to see, Zab Judah is here for Miguel Cotto. I really like Bob Arum, but I took the offer for the Margarito fight as an insult."
