Andrade relegated to silver

In Rio De Janiero, Brazil, light flyweight Luis Yanez brought home a  gold medal for America, defeating Venezuelan Kevin Wilson Betancourt Velásquez. Demetrius Andrade, an welterweight who received the most media attention among the American amateurs, took home a silver medal in the wake of a defeat to Pedro Lima of the host country. Andrade was coming off an incredible performance in which he shut out an Argentine opponent 22-0.
