Pearlata defeated Thabiso Mchunu by split decision over rounds on Friday in the Olive Convention Center in Durban, South Africa. The first half othe 200-pound bout was balanced but as the rounds ticked by, the clearest and most decisive blows came from Peralta, cornering the local and cutting off the ring. The judges scored it:  97-93 for Peralta, 97-93 for Mchunu, and 96-94 for Peralta. Mchunu (23-7) has had just two fights in the last three years, both split decision losses. Peralta is now 17-1 with the only loss coming to contender Ryan Rozicki by split decision in Candad, Rozicki's home nation.
