PRESS RELEASE: Xcess Fighting, today announced they have inked a fight deal with MMA Brazilian giant, light heavyweight Renato “Babalu” Sobral (28-7-0) and will be the first promoter to get him back in the cage after a tumultuous few months.

Sobral, was unceremoniously released from his UFC contract on August 29th, for holding his opponent David Heath in an “Anaconda Choke” 4 seconds after Heath tapped out and ignoring the commands of referee Steve Mazzagatti who tried to physically break it off.

“I am undeniably the biggest Babalu fan that lives, Xcess Fighting believes he has tremendous talent and are extremely proud to be able to get him back into the cage and in front of his fans so quickly,” said Xcess Fighting's Bruce Bellocchi.

“I am looking forward to getting back in the cage and redeeming myself to my fans, family and fellow MMA fighters,” said Sobral.
