Wright needs "way more than $4M" for Margarito, considering homecoming and Joe Calzaghe bout as well!

Winky Wright has turned down a $4M offer, a career high payday, to fight Antonio Margarito on HBO PPV on October 7. Despite only making $3.2M for his draw with Jermain Taylor, Wright believes he will net the same kind of money if he decided to fight in Florida. If plans for a homecoming fail, Wright tells Boxingtalk.com that he would also consider fighting Joe Calzaghe overseas, "if the money is right." As for the Margarito fight, Wright says, "when you asked me about the Margarito fight I told you if Bob Arum offers the same kind of money we'll have a fight. I said the same kind of money, not half of it. If he ain't trying to come with a way better offer than that ain't going to be no fight." For Winky's sake, Boxingtalk can only hope that his braintrust is capable of securing more than a $4M guarantee for a fight that brings as little or less risk than Margarito. And one has to wonder if a homecoming or a move up in weight is the WRIGHT alternative.
