Wright injures hand December fight card scrapped

Former World Champion Winky Wright sustained a left hand injury during sparring and must withdraw from his December 4th bout against Michi Munoz. "I'm very disappointed about having to pull out of this fight on December 4th, and I'd like to apologize to all my fans, Snoqualmie Casino and VERSUS," said Wright.  "I was feeling real sharp in camp and I was looking forward to a great performance before getting hurt.  I promise that I'll be back and better than ever in 2009."

"Winky Wright is one of the truest fighters in the game today and we had to argue with him to cancel this fight," said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions.  "We didn't want to risk him fighting with one hand, so after consulting with Winky and his doctors, it was decided that it was in his best interests to call the fight off."

The entire Wright-Munoz card, which was scheduled to take place at the Snoqualmie Casino in Snoqualmie, Washington and be televised by VERSUS, has been canceled, and will not be rescheduled.

Wright is expected to return to action in early 2009.
