Winky Wright: "Lou DiBella and them better keep Taylor away from me!"

GL: Can you give us some thoughts on the Jermain Taylor-Kassim Ouma fight? "Well, Jermain went out there bombing and tried to get Ouma out and he couldn't get Ouma out. Ouma is tough but at the same time this showed everyone that Jermain is not as big a puncher as people think he is."

GL: Jermain has been receiving some criticism about fighting Ouma in retreat mode. How do you feel about the strategy he used for the fight?

Winky Wright: "He backed up against Ouma and Ouma couldn't let his hands go because Jermain would just bomb and hold, bomb and hold. That shows that Kassim is a little inexperienced but like I said, Jermain hit him with everything and couldn't do nothing. Shorty ate it and kept coming."

GL: So you weren't impressed with his performance.

WW: "Not at all. He's still coming in and doing the same things he did with me except Ouma couldn't capitalize, he's still just bombing and backing himself into corners. He would get destroyed next time, Lou DiBella and them better keep him away from me."

GL: After the fight Jermain Taylor said there were more people in the first row of his fight than showed up in Florida to watch your fight with Quartey. How do you feel about his remarks?

WW: "He sounds real stupid. His arena wasn't packed, my arena held 20,000. Since he wants to talk tell him the difference is I get to keep all my money, he don't. Ask him what he has to say about that. Regardless of how many people show up I get to keep all the money."

GL: After seeing how he looked against Ouma do you regret not taking the rematch?

WW: "Nah. I never said I wouldn't take a rematch, I just said it had to be 50-50 or no deal. He's showing y'all that he ain't what they say he is."

GL: After watching Jermain against Ouma do you regret not making more money for a Taylor rematch than you did for your bout with Quartey?

WW: "Nope. You have to stand for something or you'll fall for anything. If they want to do the fight again it has to be 50-50. I want the fight but they got to give me 50-50 and he's lucky he's getting 50-50 because he ain't showing the people nothing. If they move up to fight Calzaghe, Frank Warren ain't going to give them 60-40 because Frank Warren is already making money with that boy overseas."

GL: Other than Jermain Taylor who else is there to make a big fight with at middleweight?

WW: "I moved up to 160 because that's what they wanted to see, I could still fight at 154 but I'm not in a rush anymore. I'm going to have two or three more fights and they're going to be the right fights for the right money. I'm running out of people to fight, nobody don't really want to fight and they don't have nothing to offer me. It's about principle and fighting who the fans want me to see."

GL: How many more fights before you call it a career?

WW: "I could keep on fighting but there's only a few people out there who pose a challenge and I would consider fighting."

GL: Would you consider fighting Bernard Hopkins at 168?

WW: "Bernard is moving up to heavyweight."

GL: What if he doesn't?

WW: "If he doesn't, I definitely can't move up to no 175, I guess we could meet at 160 or 168 and the money is right, I would do it. It's all good. Bernard is a great fighter and a true champion and if that's what it takes, that could happen."

GL: Do you have any idea when you're next fight is going to take place Wink?

WW: "Sometime in March or April we're going to see what's out there. Right now my hand is a little bit sore, but I want the best so whoever is out there that's available for me to fight, let's do it."

GL: I think you're making a mistake by not taking the $5M+ to fight Taylor again.

WW: "I'd rather not get the money than let somebody else feel like they're getting over on me. My thing is this, I gave them the first fight and he took most of the money. It ain't happening again, I don't even want to fight for the belts so what does have over me that I need. We're not fighting for the belt we're fighting to show the people who's the best."

GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?

WW: "Boxingtalk fans, it's like I told y'all I want the winner of Oscar and Floyd. Whoever it is, that's who I want to fight the most. Whatever other fights y'all want to see me in just write into Boxingtalk to let us know."
