Winky Wright: "Hopkins won't fight me again, Arum will keep Pavlik away from me his whole career, Mayweather wouldn't fight me if his life depended on it, Oscar De La Hoya needs to step up to the plate and give the fans what they want!"

GL: It's been a while since we've had you on Boxingtalk, what's the latest and greatest with Winky Wright? "The latest is, I'm still waiting to see how long Oscar and them are going to wait before they realize me and Oscar is the fight the fans want to see. It's like I told you last time, don't nobody want to see Oscar fight Ricky Hatton no way and Floyd's going to beat Hatton anyway so he's out. Floyd and Oscar don't make for an exciting fight we already know that and Floyd's not going to take the chances I will to make a fight out of it."

GL: Let's get off of Oscar for a second, did you happen to catch the Pavlik-Taylor fight?

Winky Wright: "Yeah I saw it and it was a good fight. Jermain had him and he let him off the hook, but you have to give Pavlik credit he got up off the floor and stopped him, but guys like me and Bernard already done softened him up enough for something like that to happen."

GL: With that being said do you regret not making the Taylor rematch?

Ww: "Hell no. I don't regret nothing I do and everything happens for a reason. Jermain and them didn't want to make the deal right so there was no fight. It was that simple."

GL: How do you feel about a fight with Pavlik?

WW: "I feel I'm the best pound for pound fighter in the world and I want to take on the best. I'm ready to fight Bernard again at 175, but like I said he knows he escaped and he ain't never going to want to fight me again. I'm ready to fight Oscar De La Hoya at 147, 150, 154, whatever he wants to do. Everybody on Boxingtalk knows that I'd fight Floyd, but he never wanted the fight, so what makes you think I wouldn't fight Pavlik? I'm the best fighter in the world at 147-175. Who else you know ready to fight the best from that many division right now?

GL: What do you think of Pavlik as a fighter?

WW: "I think he's a good fighter. He's not ready for me and if they ever got pissed at him and wanted to get him beat, they could send him to me. Jermain got his rematch clause, but if that don't happen and they're really looking for the best fight for boxing, here I am. I'm one of the best fighters in the world period and I'm ready to fight any of the big names from 147 all the way up to 175. I want to give the fans the fights that they want to see, one of these guys just need to step up."

GL: Do you expect De La Hoya to show more interest in fighting you after Mayweather-Hatton?

WW: "Hell yeah, because by then Floyd is going to beat Hatton and people will realize that De La Hoya and me would be the most exciting fight he can make for the fans. He knows I'm not going to price myself out and he'd be able to add the one great names he's currently missing on his resume, mine. He lost to Mosley twice, I beat Mosley twice. He lost to Tito, I beat Tito easy. He got knocked out by Hopkins at 160, I gave Hopkins more than he wanted to deal with at 175. I'm ready to fight him at any weight he wants to fight so I don't know what the problem is going to be. I been hearing that he might go to England to fight Hatton if he beats Mayweather, but that ain't happening and Oscar shouldn't be waiting on anybody. He's never waited on anybody his whole career and he shouldn't start now that I'm THE option that makes him the most dollars right now."

GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?

WW: "Hopkins won't fight me again, Arum will keep Pavlik away from me his whole career, Mayweather wouldn't fight me if he life depended on it, Oscar De La Hoya needs to step up to the plate and give the fans what they want! Period. Why wait until next year when we can start promoting it now?"
