Williams upsets Hurd to capture IBF/WBA/IBO titles

Julian Williams UD12  Jarrett Hurd: Julian Williams (27-1-1, 16 KOs) made it clear from the opening bell that he was in Jarrett Hurd's hometown for two reasons, to take his belts and totally spoil his homecoming and that's just what he did. Williams brought the fight on the inside, where Hurd was supposed to be at his most dangerous and tore him up. Williams dropped Hurd (23-1, 16 KOs) with a left hook in the second round. Williams continued to land the cleaner punches while showcasing a far superior defense and in the opinon of this scribe, turned this into a one-sided fight. Hurd's vaunted stamina and second half surges were non-existent this evening as Williams was the stronger fighter down the stretch. Hurd was cut on the outside of his right eye in the closing seconds of the eighth round. J-Rock continued to outworkand outland Hurd in the final three frames to walk away with the WBA/IBF and IBO championships. Boxingtalk scored it 119-109 for Williams. Official scores were a far too close 116-111 and 115-112 (twice). Source: Fox
