Williams tops Skelton by split decision

Danny Williams W12 Matt Skleton... Danny Williams is once again a legitimate heavyweight contender after defeating Matt Skelton in a twelve-round clash in London on Saturday. Williams handed the 39 year-old Skelton the first loss of his career by split decision, 115-114, 114-115 and 116-113. Skelton is a latecomer to the sport of boxing, but he attained the British championship in 2005, so it was a significant win for Williams, who had just beaten another previously undefeated boxer, Audley Harrison, his last time out. Williams, landed a big right uppercut in the final round to leave Skelton hanging on until the bell. The punch very well might have been the margin of victory. Williams is now 35-4 including a win over Mike Tyson, and a loss to Vitali Klitschko in a title challenge. Skelton is 18-1 and though his skills are said to be limited, his star hasn't diminished much from this loss. source: BBC
