Wilder and Yanez get hands raised in victory

Results from The Beijing Olympics... Day 5

The American boxing team has regrouped after yesterday's disastrous defeat suffered by Rau'shee Warren. Heavyweight Deontay Wilder picked up a 10-4 victory over Algeria's Abdelaziz Toulibini. Wilder moves into the final eight, one win away from a medal... At the other end of the weight spectrum, American light flyweight Luis Yanez won a close (12-9) decision over Spain's Jose K. De la Nieve.  The 106-pound Yanez is America's strongest remaining gold medal hope along with Demetrius Andrade... The host nation's best boxer, Zou Shiming, advanced in the light flyweight division with an 11-2 win over Venezuela's Edouard Bermudez Salas. Shiming has won two amateur world championships and a 2004 Olympic bronze for China... At heavyweight, Cuba's Osmai Acosta Duarte shut out Nigeria's Olanrewaju Duradola, 11-0. Here's a name to watch for in the pro ranks next year: 6'8", 242 pound British super heavyweight David Price stopped Russia's Islam Timurziev by TKO in the second round. Timurziev won bronze at last year's world championships... Also, popular Italian Roberto Camarelle began his quest to improve on his 2004 Olympic bronze by beating Marko Tomasovic of Croatia, 13-1...  source: official olympic website
