Why Not Winky Wright vs. Arthur Abraham?

Winky Needs an HBO Opponent; Abraham Needs a Major American Name

Coming off of a loss to Bernard Hopkins in July, Winky Wright is standing on the outside looking in.  Calling out major stars like Oscar De La Hoya has so far been for naught as Winky seemingly has no bargaining power.  As an HBO fighter, Winky will need a stud opponent if he has any hopes of landing on HBO’s World Championship Boxing series.  Arthur Abraham is undefeated at 24-0 with 19 knockouts and holds the IBF middleweight title.  With wins over Edison Miranda, Kingsley Ikeke, Kofi Jantuah and Howard Eastman, Abraham’s exciting style would make him the perfect TV opponent that Winky needs.  Abraham has been calling out the winner of Taylor-Pavlik II and saying he wants to fight in the U.S., but many American fans are skeptical.  There is no better American opponent for Abraham to prove his worth against than Winky Wright.  It’s an intriguing match up, and one in which the winner would be back in center stage with significant bargaining power.              Â
