Why Did Sportscenter Show Clips of Marquez-Juarez but not Calzaghe-Kessler?

During the Sunday morning edition of ESPN's Sportscenter, highlights of the Juan Manuel Marquez-Rocky Juarez fight received about 30 seconds of coverage including a solid highlight reel.  However, there was not one mention of the super fight between Joe Calazghe and Mikke Kessler.  A unification fight of this magnitude with both fighters being undefeated is virtually unheard of.  Of course Marquez-Juarez was a pretty big fight and boxing fans should be happy that Sportscenter aired clips, but not even one mention of the Calzaghe-Kessler unification bout truly shows the problem with boxing.  Marquez-Juarez was a one sided shellacking, although entertaining in spots.  Calzaghe-Kessler had exciting back and forth action with both fighters throwing bombs.  A possible explanation is that is that Showtime pushed to have Sportscenter show clips of Marquez-Juarez while HBO did not.  The boxing powers that be need to wake up because this is exactly why the UFC is kicking boxing’s ass all over the place.  Send comments to boxingtalk@gmail.com Â
