Weighing in with Jones and Johnson

On Friday, September 24, 2004, Square Ring Inc., Goossen Tutor, Grand Casino Tunica, and HBO Sports brought the boxing fans of Memphis, Tenessee a major weigh in for Saturday's boxing extravaganza featuring ten bouts.  The jump off began at 5 p.m. at the Budweiser Pavilion located on Beale St. in Memphis, the place to be in order to catch up with one of the greatest boxers with Roy Jones.  The crowd was large and of course all eyes were on him.  Jones weighed in at 175 pounds and Glen Johnson, the IBF title holder, weighed in at 174 pounds. On September 25, 2004 at the new FedEx Forum at 10 p.m., the two will face off for Jones' IBF light heavyweight title and Jones attempts to get back to the top of the pound-for-pound list again, which could lead him to fight either Antonio Tarver or Bernard Hopkins.  Tje chief support on the undercard is a junior bantamweight clash between Mark “Too Sharp” Johnson and Ivan Hernandez, who both weighed in at the division limit of 115 pounds. HBO will televise the main event at 10 pm, beginning with a tape of last week's Bernard Hopkins-Oscar De La Hoya middleweight title bout.
