On Friday, Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn shared a stage for the last time before their massive fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the UK. The rivals took part in the ceremonial weigh-in, which followed Friday morning's official weigh-ins. During the morning session, it was revealed that Eubank tipped the scales at slightly over the maximum 160-pound limit, costing him $500,000 in fines.. It added another wrinkle to a fight that has no lack of narratives, and on stage both men reacted to the morning's news. "It's an expensive price to pay, isn't it? But he's disciplined so he should have made the weight," Benn said on the weigh-in broadcast. "He's made this weight his whole career. He's expecting a little bit of sympathy but he ain't got no sympathy around here."
Meanwhile, Eubank was unapologetic and used the weight overage to take another shot at Benn and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, with whom Eubank has been embroiled in a war of words since Saturday's fight was announced months ago. "It is what it is," Eubank said of the weigh-in and subsequent fine. "If they're going to take half a million off of me for being 0.5 pounds off the limit, then that's just what it is. That's the people that Eddie Hearn and Matchroom and Conor Benn are."At the end of the day, weights have no relevance to what happens tomorrow night."
