Weigh-in report from Las Vegas: Plant and Benavidez make weight

Undefeated WBC interim super middleweight champion David “Mexican Monster” Benavídez, and the former IBF champion Caleb Plant finally meet today (Saturday) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.  The 25 year-old Benavídez (26-0, 23 KOs) became the youngest 168-pound champion at just 20 years old when he defeated Ronald Gavril via split decision for the vacant WBC title in 2017. He's a Phoenix fighter who now lives and trains in the Seattle area. Plant (22-1, 13 KOs) lost to Saul "Canelo" Alvarez but in his most recent fight showed great power, defeating former champion Anthony Dirrell in the ninth, with a one punch finish. Both men successfully passed the official weigh-in, Benavidez at 166.7 pounds, Plant at 167.2.
 
As for the other boxers competing on the pay-per-view telecast: Jesus “Mono” Ramos and Joey Spencer, two undefeated boxers who meet in the co-feature, both weighed in at 153.25. Chris “Primetime” Colbert outweighed Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela by a half a pound, 134.5 to 134.Welterweights Cody Crowley and Abel Ramos, who square off in the pay-per-view telecast opener, came in at 145.25 and 146 respectively.
