Kenshiro Teraji TKO12 Seigo Yuri Akui... Kenshiro Teraji proved once again he is one of boxing’s elite little men by unifying the WBA and WBC flyweights title. Entering as the WBC champion, Teraji recorded a dramatic twelfth-round TKO over outgoing WBA champion Seigo Yuri Akui. The battle, held at the legendary Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena, kept fans on the edge of their seats. Trailing on two of the three scorecards heading into the final round, Teraji unleashed a barrage that forced the referee to step in midway though the round. There was no knockdown, but Akui appeared to be out on his feet. Teraji, a former two-belt champion at junior flyweight, improved his record to 25-1 with 16 knockouts, adding the WBA title to his existing WBC championship. Akui is now 21-3-1.
This bout marked only the third unification fight between Japanese fighters in history, with the first dating back to 2012 when Akira Yaegashi faced Kazuto Ioka.
