Ohara Davies KO9 Lewis Ritson ... On Saturday in the main event held at England's Newcastle Arena, junior welterweight Ohara Davies knocked out Lewis Ritson in the ninth round of a WBA elimination bout. That victory puts him on the doorstep of a world title shot against Alberto Puello (although Puello will first defend against Rolando Romero in May). A big body punch by Davies sent Ritson to the canvas for the ten count. Prior to the knockout, Davies was winning the fight and was ahead on all three judges’ scorecards by 78-74 (twice) and 77-75. Davies' record is now 25-2 with two very forgivable world-level losses to Josh Taylor and Jack Caterall. Ritson is now 23-3.
