It was Artiga’s second successful title defense, as she tries to establish her place as an active and dominant champion on the international stage. The end came in round three, when Artiga uncorked a sharp left hand to the head that left Sandstrom defenseless. With Artiga firing away and Sandstrom not throwing any punches back, the referee stepped in and halted the contest, awarding Artiga, age 33, the stoppage victory.
