Ward narrowly escapes with UD over Kovalev

Andre Ward defeated Sergey Kovalev by unanimous decision  in Las Vegas on Saturday to win the WBA, IBF and WBO light heavyweight titles. In a fight that was a close, nip-and-tuck affair all the way, Ward got off the deck and won by a trio of 114-113 scores. Ward showed tremendous heart after getting tagged early by Kovalev in round one and dropped by a counter right hand in round two. Kovalev's power was evident throughout the early rounds and kept Ward at bay. But in the mid to late rounds, Ward would flurry in clinches and appeared to score enough points to win some close rounds. It was a very tough fight to score. Scoring from ringside, I had it 7-5 Ward,  so with the knockdown in round two, my card matched the judges’. More details to follow!!!
