Ward Survives Scare, Larios Wins War Over McCullough

2004 Olympic Gold Medallist, Andre Ward survived a first round scare to win a lopsided unanimous decision over previously undefeated Kenny Kost. After Ward was dominating the first two minutes and thirty seconds of the opening frame, a Kost counter left hand wobbled Ward badly. To his credit, Ward rallied back to win every second of each of the next five rounds to take the fight 60-54, 59-55, 59-55.

-----

WBC 122 pound champion Oscar Larios succesfully defended his title against former world champ Wayne McCullough. This action packed encounter featured many exchanges, a lot of give and take action, and few clinches. Larios won a unanimous decision by surprisingly wide margins of 116-112, 118-110, 118-110. As Boxingtalk readers should know, Larios was pencilled in to unify against WBO champ Joan Guzman on HBO PPV April 9, however, Larios suffered a cut over his right eye, and took a tremendous amount of punches tonight, so it appears unlikely that Larios-Guzman takes place on April 9!
