Are there any young Latinos out there who want to be in a boxing movie? Here’s your chance. The producers of a feature film entitled “Chamaco,” a street-drama set in Mexico City, have launched a search for Abner, the principal role of a young Mexican boxer. Abner is a Mexican teenager who dreams of becoming a great boxer like Marco Antonio Barrera. The goal of the producers of Chamaco is to find a talented young Mexican boxer who has the right look, and some natural acting abilities for the part of Abner. The casting Director, Carla Hool, will also be visiting few gyms in her search for the part of Abner. Any young boxer, even without any formal acting training, who wants to be under consideration is asked to send his pictures and boxing resume, as we will still consider any and all young boxers, who look in the right age range, (16-18), for this part. The person to contact is the casting director, Carla Hool. Her email is: carla@bazooka.com.mx. Other roles also need to be filled, such as boxing opponents, sparring partners, trainers, referees and cut men among others. This project is expected to begin principal photography on February 1, 2007, shooting in Mexico City.
