If a deal is not reached between the promoters of Shakur Stevenson and Joet González (Top Rank and Golden Boy respectively), the WBO will hold a purse bid for its vacant featherweight championship on September 14th in Las Vegas. The title became vacant when Oscar Valdez decided to move up in weight... Also on September 14th in Las Vegas, the WBO will hold a purse bid for Zolani Tete's mandatory title defense if no agreement is reached. Tete, from South Africa, must face John Riel Casimero of the Philippines. Tete missed out on a very lucrative fight in the World Boxing Super Series when he won his first round bout but injuries precluded him from unifying vs. Nonito Donaire in round two. Instead, he was ordered to face Donaire's countryman, Casimero, a former IBF champion at 108 and 112 pounds. Casimero currently holds the WBO interi belt at bantamweight.
