Last week, Keyshawn Davis was stripped of the WBO lightweight title for failing to make the 135-pound limit. The WBO has announced the two boxers who will face off to fill the title vacancy: Sam Noakes of the United Kingdom and Cleveland's Abdullah Mason (19-0, 17 KOs). Their repsective promoters now have twenty days to reach a deal, or WBO purse bid proceedings will kick in. According to the WBO Twitter feed, negotiations are all ready underway. Last weekend, Mason, age 21, became a main event fighter by default when Davis failed to make weight and saw his fight cancelled. Mason delivered a dominant fifth-round stoppage against respected Namibian Jeremia Nakathila at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. Noakes (17-0, 15 KOs) is coming off a technical knockout win in May over Patrik Balaz.
