Earlier this week, the WBO ordered a mandatory title fight in the featherweight division. Champion Rafael Espinoza of Mexico was instructed to begin a thirty-day negotiation period with his predecessor, Robeisy Ramirez of Cuba. Espinoza claimed the title last December when he defeated Ramirez by majority decision. Both men have won one fight since then to set up a rematch. Although a deal is expected to be reached in the next thirty days, a purse bid is a possibility if the negotiations period expires.
