WBC relieves Rodriguez of super flyweight title

Following the official announcement by undefeated Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodríguez that he is moving up in weight, the WBC formally declared the organization’s world super flyweight championship to be vacant. Rodríguez (23-0, 16 KOs) has built a spectacular career in modern boxing, backed by Teiken Promotions. Interestingly, the story of career began in Mexico City, where he made his professional debut on March 10, 2017, defeating Mauricio Cruz via unanimous decision at the Carpa Astros in Tlalpan. Rodriguez is a two-division champion who until this news broke, held three belts at super flyweight. Rodríguez is now looking to kick off a new era. His next step will take place this coming June 13th in Glendale, Arizona, where he will step into the ring to challenge Antonio Vargas for the WBA bantamweight title.
