The WBC has issued the following status report on all of its male champions:
HEAVYWEIGHT: Oleksandr Usyk defended his title by UD in the rematch vs Tyson Fury... Agit Kabayel will fight Zhilei Zhang for the WBC heavyweight interim championship on February 22nd in Riyadh.
BRIDGERWEIGHT: Kevin Lerena vs. Serhiy Radchenko was announced at the convention but this fight has been cancelled. Lerena is in communications with the WBC with regards to his immediate future. Krzysztof Włodarczyk vs Adam Balski was approved for the interim Bridgerweight title.
CRUISERWEIGHT: Badou Jack was returned back to champion from his champion in recess status. Jack was ordered to face Ryan Rozicki as his first challenger.... Yamil Peralta and Michael Cieslak are set to fight for the interim title... Noel Mikaelyan was placed as champion in recess due to promotional disputes, but now the WBC has been officially notified that such disputes have been resolved.
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Undisputed world champion Artur Beterbiev will fight a rematch with Dmitry Bivol on February 22nd in Riyadh... Interim champion David Benavidez will fight David Morrell on February 1st. The winner will be the mandatory challenger of the division to fight the winner of Beterbiev vs. Bivol.
SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT: World champion Saul Alvarez is in voluntary stage... Jaime Munguia was to fight Christian Mbilli for the interim championship, but Munguia lost a fight after the convention and is now scheduled for the rematch vs. Bruno Surace... A tournament is to be restructured within the top contenders of the division who are available.
MIDDLEWEIGHT: Champion Carlos Adames will have two mandatories. Firstly, against Hamzah Sheeraz on February 22nd in Riyadh. Then, the winner fights Meirim Nursultanov.
JUNIOR MIDDLEWEIGHT: Champion Sebastian Fundora was to fight Errol Spence, but Spence has withdrawn... Mandatory challenger Terence Crawford [who holds the WBA championship] has not confirmed his status to the WBC... Interim champion Vergil Ortiz will fight Israil Madrimov on February 22nd in Riyadh... Serhii Bohachuk won a final eliminator. He will be fighting the winner of Vergil Ortiz vs. Israil Madrimov.
WELTERWEIGHT: Champion Mario Barrios made a voluntary defense against Abel Ramos. Souleymanne Cissokho was to fight Egidijus Kavaliauskas in a final eliminator but he got hurt. The WBC is waiting for the information of the new date.
JUNIOR WELTERWEIGHT: Champion Alberto Puello will make his mandatory defense against Sandor Martin on March 1st in New York. If Sandor wins, he will be allowed a voluntary defense... Gary Antuane Russell was granted an indirect rematch [but is fighting for the WBA title]... Dalton Smith will fight a final elimination for the next mandatory position.
LIGHTWEIGHT: Champion Shakur Stevenson will make a voluntary defense against Floyd Schofield on February 22nd in Riyadh... Interim champion William Zepeda is fully healed from a shoulder injury.
JUNIOR LIGHTWEIGHT: Champion O’Shaquie Foster is in voluntary stage... A final eliminator fight was ordered between Mark Magsayo and Eduardo “Rocky” Hernandez, but both fighters will have a tune up fight before fighting each other... It is being discussed to structure a tournament between top rated available boxers, some names mentioned were Muratalla, Davis and Cruz.
FEATHERWEIGHT: Champion Brandon Figueroa will make a voluntary defense against Stephen Fulton on February 1st. The winner will fight champion in recess Rey Vargas immediately next... Bruce Carrington will fight an eliminator fight, which could be accepted as final elimination.
SUPER BANTAMWEIGHT: Champion Naoya Inoue will make a voluntary defense on January 25th in Tokyo... Sam Goodman has withdrawn from this fight and Inoue will defend against Ye Joon Kim
BANTAMWEIGHT: Champion Junto Nakatani is in line for a voluntary defense vs. David Cuellar on February 25th in Japan.
SUPER FLYWEIGHT: Champion Jesse Rodriguez defeated Pedro Guevara in his latest bout and is in the voluntary stage.... Andrew Moloney vs Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez will fight final elimination for the mandatory position.
FLYWEIGHT: Champion Kenshiro Teraji is in voluntary stage... Interim Champion Galal Yafai won the interim title on November 30, 2024... Mandatory challenger Francisco Rodriguez has been waiting for two years, so the WBC ordered a fight betyween Yafai and Francisco Rodriguez.
LIGHT FLYWEIGHT: Panya Pradabsri defeated Carlos Canizales for the vacant title on December 26th in Thailand but he won the title in a controversial decision so a rematch has been ordered... Two final elimination fights for the mandatory defenses will take place between the top available contenders.
MINIMUMWEIGHT: Champion Melvin Jerusalem made his mandatory fight on September 22, 2024, against Luis Castillo; he is in the voluntary stage
