WBA to stage exciting show in Argentina

The WBA has announced its annual KO Drugs charity event will be held May 24-26,2005 in Argentina, and from the looks of things, the event is growing in significance by leaps and bounds.  This year, there will be two boxing cards instead of one, with the primary event taking place on Thursday May 26 at Luna Park stadium in Buenos Aires.  Headlining will be the active boxer with the most career wins, Jorge “Locomotora” Castro.  Although Castro's opponent has not yet been determined, there is no shortage of boxers willing to come to Argentina to use the charity event as an opportunity to advance themselves in the WBA ratings.  In a great crossroads match-up, ex-world titlist Julio Pablo Chacon of Argentina will take on Jorge Linares, considered a top prospect. Linares is from Venezuela but trains in Japan. Another exciting bout on tap is Alexander “Explosivo” Muñoz, just one loss removed from the WBA 115-pound championship, against prospect Julio Roque Ler in a title eliminator. Cruiserweights Mauro Ordiales and Luis Andres Pineda will battle each other, and unbeaten heavyweight Ruslan Chagaev from Uzbekistan is also scheduled to appear.
