WBA sets date for Niyomtrong-Argumedo purse bid

The WBA set a purse bid date for a 105-pound championship contest between WBA champion Thammanoon Niyomtrong, a/k/a Knockout CP Freshmart, of Thailand and mandatory challenger Jose Argumedo of Mexico. If no deal is reached, the purse bid will take place on September 16th in WBA offices in Panama City. Niyomtrong is 20-0, while Argumedo is 23-4-1 and is a former IBF 105-pound champion. The minimum amount to promote the fight will be just US $ 80,000, to be distributed 75% for the champion and 25% to the challenger.Argumedo lost his IBF title in 2017 to Hiroto Kyoguchi but earned the chance to challenge for the WBA title by knocking out Venezuela's Alexis Diaz last March.
