Boxingtalk has been informed that the WBA has ordered its top two rated junior welterweight contenders, Mario Barrios and Batyr Ahmedov, to square off for its regular championship, even though there is already a WBA champion in that weight class. Regis Prograis is the real WBA champion and will unify titles with IBF champion Josh Taylor in the WBSS final later this year. Ahmedov (7-0) is a largely untested Russian boxer.
