WBA orders Argumedo-Rojas at 105 pounds

The WBA ordered Mexico’s Jose Argumedo to face Nicaragua’s Byron Rojas for its vacant regular minimumweight title. The WBA recognizes Thammanoon Niyomtrong a/k/a Knockout CP Freshmart as super champion in the weight class. While the title will be bogus, Argumedo-Rojas will be a good fight. Argumedo (23-4-1) is a former IBF champ who lost his title to Hiroto Kyoguchi in 2017. Rojas 27-4-3 is a former WBA champion with two of his losses to Knockout CP Freshmart. The WBA notified both teams that they must initiate the thirty-day free negotiation period, which started on January 20th and will close on February 19th. The WBA Championships Committee may call to purse bids if the teams do not reach an agreement within the established time, with the distribution of the purse to be 50% for each party as established by WBA rule D.19.
