Vitali accepts Brewster's challenge!

WBC champ says he's ready for Brewster unification in September!

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (May 26, 2005) – World Boxing Council (WBC) Heavyweight Champion Vitali Klitschko has heard the call from World Boxing Organization (WBO) Champion Lamon Brewster after his first-round knockout of Andrew Golota last weekend. And the champion has responded. “I have heard and read where Brewster has challenged me, and there is no problem,” said Klitschko.  “Let’s get it on.  It should make for a very interesting and good fight.  He looked good against Golota and I would love to fight him.  He fought against my brother, so there is added incentive for me.  If he is as interested as he said he is, have his promoter call my manager.  I am ready for a September fight.”

Klitschko (35-2, 34 KOs) is back in training after undergoing minor back surgery.  He is coming off of an impressive performance in which he retained his WBC title by stopping challenger Danny Williams at 1:26 of the eighth round on Dec. 11, 2004.  Vitali knocked Williams down four times in the fight—in the first, third, seventh and ended it in the eighth round.  Williams was coming off of an impressive victory over Mike Tyson.
