Vinny Maddalone Ready to Give Fans Their Money's Worth

BoxingTalk:  Vinny, how’s preparation for your fight this Thursday?

Vinny Maddalone:  It’s going great. I’ve been ready to go since the end of June.  I’ll be in the best shape in my life.

BoxingTalk:  You are slated to fight Jason Barnett.  What do you know about him, and how do you expect him to perform against you?

Vinny Maddalone:  I don’t know too much.  He’s a straight forward guy, and that will make for a great fight.  It should definitely be a crowd pleaser.

BoxingTalk:  Is this fight simply a tune-up bout for you, and are you expecting a quick knockout victory on Thursday?

Vinny Maddalone:  No. It’s been seven months since my fight with Holyfield.  So I’m going to get some rounds in.

BoxingTalk:  Do you feel that you are a better fighter since being in the ring with Evander Holyfield?

Vinny Maddalone:  Without a doubt.  You can’t teach that.  You have to perform it.  The headbutt I couldn’t do anything about, but I wish I could have kept going.

BoxingTalk:  What did you think about Holyfield’s performance against Ibragimov this past weekend?

Vinny Maddalone:  Styles makes fights.  Ibragimov boxed him, stayed away from him, and had the right game plan.

BoxingTalk:  With 2007 winding down, how do you see the rest of this year playing out for you?

Vinny Maddalone:  It would be nice to get one more fight in this December. Then it’s up to Joe DeGuardia and Star Boxing.  This fight is sold out, and it’s great to have all my fans coming out to see me again.  I’m planning on putting on a great performance.

BoxingTalk:  As far as you are concerned, could a third fight with Brian Minto take place?

Vinny Maddalone:  That would be great.  It’s up to Joe DeGuardia.  This is a business and if it makes sense we’ll do it.  We’re a bigger version of Gatti-Ward, and fans get their monies worth when we fight each other.

BoxingTalk:  What happens if you get in the ring with Barrett on Thursday, and he can take your best shot?

Vinny Maddalone:  Then I try and hit him again with another great shot.  I’m going to have to work in this fight, and if it goes ten rounds then it goes ten rounds.  I know I’m not going to knock everybody out with one punch.

BoxingTalk:  What can we expect to see from you in your fight on Thursday?

Vinny Maddalone:  People are used to seeing me take a lot of punches, but we’re working on a lot of head movement for Thursday.

BoxingTalk:  What’s your prediction for Thursday?

Vinny Maddalone:  I’ve worked hard in camp.  I’m going for the win, and I thank my fans and BoxingTalk for their support.
