Video Transcription: Roy Jones Jr.

RJJ:  You look like you're ready to fight yourself.

GL:  I'm trying.  I'm just trying to stay in shape.  Boxing writing is a cut-throat business.  I'm ready for anything.  We're going to get that BoxingTalk exclusive straight off the escalator.  Tell us about it, July 14th.  The return of Roy Jones and Anthony Hanshaw.

RJJ:  Anthony Hanshaw and Roy Jones Jr. are in bed, no one can say anything.  I'm back, mentally and physically, it's a monster again.  I'm having fun, I'm loving what I do, and that's what makes it good for me.

GL:  When we spoke on the phone, basically you told me this is a fight where you're going to gauge where you're at...

RJJ:  Yeah, yeah, I know where I'm at. I just want people to see where I'm at, so they can understand why it's probably best that I haven't fought anyone that's not really on point right now.  If fight someone who's on point, it doesn't really do anything for me.  If he's not on point, I'm probably going to hurt him.

GL:  What were your thoughts on Taylor-Spinks?

RJJ:  Taylor didn't look too good.  I thought I was going to see a show down.  You know how I am, I will keep my word, if they still want me to have a showdown with ?.  He doesn't even look that oppressing to me.  I want the kid to be ready.  I do still feel in my heart that he will fight to the level of this competition, and I will be the best fighter that he's ever fought.  I'm going to raise the level of competition, that's what hurting him right now.  I also don't want people saying I'm picking on a lame duck.  I'm going to sit back and see what happens.

GL:  Hanshaw is a young undefeated fighter, but at the same time, you're Roy Jones Jr.  Is this a fight where victory might not be enough?  Do you feel you have to dominate this guy, or do something that...

RJJ:  Well, you'd better do something really exciting.  This guy doesn't know how to lose, he's coming out to dominate me.  He's never lost before, he doesn't know how to.  I'm going to teach him something he's never learned before.  It's not about going ouit there and getting a win.  It's never about just getting a win, it's where I'm at right now.  I'm a man of my word for one, if I say I'm going to do it, than I'm going to do it.  It's not about the win, it's about doing what I love.

GL:  You don't look like you're going to have to lose much weight for this fight.  I imagine you're in good day-to-day shape, on the G. Leon regimine.

RJJ:  I do it just in case, you never know what might happen.  I stay ready just in case.  That's what made me the best pound for pound, the best fighter for those decades, when I was at HBO.  It's what made me the best, and that's why I'm back.  I'm going to snatch my pound for pound title back.

GL:  How do you feel about returning to the Gulf Coast?

RJJ:  I feel wonderful abput returning to the Gulf Coast.  That's my home, those are my people, that's where I want to be, that's where I love being.  They've always got a place for me in the Gulf Coast.

GL:  That's what it is.  We're going to get a lot more of Roy on BoxingTalk leading up to the 14th.  In the meantime, give us some closing thoughts for the fans.

RJJ:  Closing thoughts, go buy your tickets now.  If you don't have it, go get your PPV.  Get ready, look at it.  I don't want you to tell me anything, but when you see me, tell me who you see in the game, that can do it like I do.  Nobody.
