Floyd Mayweather will fight an exhibition against the grandson of a mafia leader on August 24th at the Mexico City Arena. Saturday will mark Mayweather's first appearance in Mexico when he faces John Gotti III for the second time. The fight poster for this show also indicates that former welterweight champion Victor Ortiz (33-7-3) will fight on the show. Ortiz, who was knocked out by Mayweather in 2011, last fought in 2022, winning a low-level bout. On Saturday, Ortiz is booked to fight Rodrigo Damian Coria (13-6), a Mexican junior middleweight coming off a loss.
Also on the undercard will be Mexican super bantamweight Alan David Picasso, who battle Azat Hovhannisyan, an experienced Armenian boxer who last fought in February 2023 when he was defeated by Luis ‘Pantera’ Nery in one of the best fights of the year. Picasso, age 23, has a record of 28 wins and one draw in 29 fights, winning 16 by knockout. Hovhannisyan, age 35, has a record of 21 wins in 25 fights, winning 17 by knockout, with 4 losses and one by knockout.
