Vazquez retains IBF junior feather title

Israel Vazquez retained his IBF 122-pound championship with a close but unanimous decision over Armando Guerrero. Vazquez won by three official scores of 116-112. There no knockdowns and Punchstat numbers were close, giving Vazquez a narrow 384-369 edge in punches landed.  Vazquez, rated #4 in his weight class by Boxingtalk, increased his work rate to average over 100 pounces per round over the second half of the bout and that likely was the difference. Guerrero, who has to work a day job to earn a living and only boxes part-time, deserves plenty of credit for a great effort.  --Scott Shaffer
