James Moore wins Long Lisland main event
Brooklyn's Vanessa “The Gladiator” Greco made her professional debut at the Plattduetsche Park on Long Island last night, and she posted a victory. Greco is a three-time New York Golden Gloves champion and former National Golden Gloves champion. She put on a spectacular performance against Kimberly Tomes, now 0-5.
Greco boxed beautifully throughout and the tough Tomes put up a good effort, but in the end Greco was too skillful. After a head butt in the second round, both fighters suffered messy cuts but continued to fight two more intense, high pace rounds. Greco won the decision unanimously, all three judges scoring the bout 40-36.
“The girls bring it, as usual. It was the best fight of the night,” said Lee Shabaka, Greco’s trainer.
“Vanessa came to fight and did exactly what we came to do. She worked so hard for this,” said teammate Keisher “Fire” McLeod. “I can’t wait for her next one”.
“Her corner said she would hurt me,” said Greco on her way out of the ring. “Nobody can hurt me.”
In the main event of the night, undefeated Irishman James Moore defeated Thomas Davis, now 11-6-2. The predominantly pro-Moore crowd cheered on their hero, who improves to 14-0.
