Vanda-Kost: The Brawl In St. Paul

PRESS RELEASE: ST. PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS – “The Brawl In St. Paul: A Father’s Day Special,” featuring rivals Matt “The Predator” Vanda and Kenny “KO” Kost in the ten-round main event, will be held June 15 at “The Legendary Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul (MN), Seconds Out Promotions president Tony Grygelko announced.

Vanda (36-3, 21 KOs), a light middleweight, has defeated former world champion “Yory Boy” Campas Troy Lowry, Homer Gibbons and Sam Garr among the more notables.

Kost (11-3, 6 KOs) has beaten Miguel Hernandez and taken Olympic gold medallist Andre Ward and Olympic bronze medal winner Andre Direll the full distance in a pair of eight-round fights.

“Vanda-Kost is the fight everybody around here has been waiting
for,” Grygelko, a former boxer, said. “They’ve taken different routes in their careers. Vanda, from the tough East Side of St. Paul, decided to turn pro early. Kost is a decorated amateur who grew-up in the more affluent suburb of St. Paul, White Bear Lake. As Kost developed as an amateur, Vanda grew as a pro. It’s good vs. bad, rich vs. poor, which makes for a good fight
to determine who the best St. Paul boxer is today.

“Seconds Out Promotions is continuing its boxing series in Minnesota that we launched last fall. We hope to match the Vanda-Kost winner in the fall with another name fighter in the Midwest, possibly Anthony Bonsante. Professional boxing is returning to St. Paul on Father’s Day weekend.”

Unbeaten knockout sensation Wilton “Pretty Warrior” Hilario (8-0, 7 KOs), fighting out of St. Louis Park (MN), returns in the six-round co-feature against a featherweight to be determined. In his last action, Hilario defeated former two-time world title challenger Luis Bolano by six-round decision.

Also scheduled to fight on the card is super middleweight Jon Schmidt (2-0, 2 KOs), of Blaine (MN), Minneapolis heavyweights Van Goodman (1-1, 1 KO) and Drew Peterson (1-1) in separate bouts, Osseo (MN) super middleweight Caleb “Golden” Truax (1-0, 1 KO) and Minneapolis cruiserweight Phil “The Drill” Williams (3-0, 3 KOs). All bouts and fighters are subject to change.

Tickets are on sale at The Legendary Roy Wilkins Auditorium, all TicketMaster locations, on line at Ticketmaster.com, or charge by phone at 651.989.5151. Doors open at 6 PM/CT, first bout at 7 PM/CT.
