How the heck did Beck get a title shot
Nikolai Valuev TKO3 Owen Beck... WBA heavyweight titleholder Nikolai Valuev successfully defended his belt against undeserving challenger Owen Beck with a third-round stoppage in Germany on Saturday. How Beck got the opportunity before Ray Austin, who beat Beck last summer, can only be answered by the politics of the sport. Credit Valuev for doing what a champion should do against a lseer opponent: the 320-pound Russian disposed of Beck inside three rounds to run his record to 43-0. This should be the last major fight for Beck, the loser of three of his last four. He falls to 25-3 overall but he has never beaten any heavyweight of note. source: Associated Press
