Valuev outweighs Barrett by 105!

Weights from Illinois

Nikolai Valuev will enjoy an almost unbelievable 105-pound weight advantage when he defends the WBA heavyweight title against Monte Barrett in Illinois tomorrow. Valuev outweighed Barrett 328-222.5 at today’s weigh-in. Meanwhile, Tomasz Adamek and Paul Briggs both made weight for their rematch. Adamek, who will be defending the WBC light heavyweight title, came in at 174, a pound lighter than Briggs, who scaled in right at the 175-pound limit. In a battle of lightweight contenders, veteran Matt Zegan weighed in at 134 for a bout against 133-pound Nate Campbell, who may be out of opportunities for big fights if he loses this one. Also, local heavyweight Mike Mollo weighed in at 231, compared to 278 for the better-known Kevin McBride. Buried on the deep Don King undercard is an interesting bout involving Keith Holmes, a former world middleweight titleholder as recently as 2001. Holmes will move up to light heavyweight, where at 173 pounds, he will face 15-1 but untested Cory Cummings, who weighed in at 175. source: DKP Press Release
