Valuev makes travel plans

Press Release: WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev is finishing up his high-altitude training camp in Armenia, and on Friday, he is going to travel to Berlin to be a guest at a Russian-German political function. On Monday the “Russian Giant” is going to fly to the USA to start a six-day promotion tour with his manager Wilfried Sauerland and co-promoter Don King.  The tour will promote his upcoming title defense against Monte Barrett on October 7, 2006 at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. Valuev said about his training camp, “we have made good progress [but] w have just been distracted by a Russian television team that visited me for one day and by the well-wishers to my birthday.” On Monday, Valuev turned  33.  At the political function, Valuev will be the only one not wearing a tuxedo “Nikolai possesses no [tuxedo] yet. He just owns suits,” said Wilfried’s wife, Jochi Sauerland, “and it wasn´t possible to buy one because there´s none in his size.” As for his itinerary in the USA, “we´re planning press conferences and [interviews] in television and radio at New York, Chicago and Los Angeles,” Wilfried Sauerland reports. On September 3, 2006, Valuev is going to return from Los Angeles to Berlin to start his preparation for the fight at Max Schmeling Gym near Berlin Olympic Stadium.
