Umar Salamov stoked to be September 19th headliner in Grozny, but has much bigger dreams!

Greg Leon: How is everything going in preparation for your September 19th light heavyweight bout vs. Roamer Alexis Angulo (24-1, 21 KOs)? Umar Salamov: Training is going great I have been at training camp in Vegas for 4 weeks now. I am etting great sparring and look forward to putting on a great performance September 19th.

GL: What do you know about him as a fighter? Have you seen him at all?

US:  I know that he is a big puncher, strong guy and is coming to try and win but he won’t!

GL: How do you feel about headlining in Grozny?

US:  I am very happy about it!  I will put on another great performance for my fans at home.

GL: Who do you feel would be the best fight for you to take that one giant step towards a title fight?

US: I am ready for a world title right now, Angulo is rated in top ten [by a sanctioning body] and with this win I hope to get a world title opportunity.  Dmitriy Bivol (WBA champion), Sergey Kovalev (WBO), Oleksandr Gvozdyk WBC)... I want them all

GL: What do you feel like you've improved on the most over the last year?

US: I definitely improved I held all of my training camps outside of this one in Detroit training with Sugar Hill at Kronk helped me a lot in my over all boxing IQ

GL: What did you think about some of the recent light heavyweight action? Kovalev's win over Anthony Yarde? Jean Pascal's win over Marcus Browne?

US: Great performance by Kovalev and a huge upset by Pascal.  His manager did a great job in guiding him for this opportunity [that would be the author, G. Leon, who giudes Pascal's career].

GL: Who do you like in Gvozdyk vs. artur Beterbiev (the IBF champion]?

US: I like the fight it’s all about the best fighting the best and this will be a great match in the light Heavyweight division

GL: Where do you see yourself next year at this time?

US: With a world title around my waist

GL: Closing thoughts for the fans.

US: Thank you fans for your support I look forward to September 19th
