Thomas Ulrich, the #9 light heavyweight in the world according to the Boxingtalk ratings, succesfully defended his European championship with a points win over Briton Matthew Barney in Riesa, Germany. Ulrich won narrowly by scores of 115-114 (twice) and 116-112. Ulrich is now 28-1 and ready for a world title shot. On the undercard, heavyweight prospect Ruslan Chagaev defeated Sherman Williams by eight-round decision. Official scores were 80-72, 79-73 and 78-74.  Chagaev is now 16-0-1. Also, middleweight Koren Gevor stopped Francesco Pernice in the fourth round. source: Universum website
