WBA Europe press release: On Friday January 14, 2005 in the Ukrainian city of Donetsk, a WBA International lightweight title fight was held between Pedro Miranda of Spain and Andrey Kudryavtsev, a native Ukranian at the Municipal Sport Palace in front of 6,000 people. Kudryavtsev, who entered as the challenger, won the bout by eleventh-round technical knockout.  In the second round, Miranda suffered a knockdown, though he recovered quickly. The middle rounds were very close until the eighth, when Miranda was sent again to the canvas. Although Miranda gamely stood up at the count of eight, the Ukrainian fighter dominated the action the rest of the way up to round eleven, when the referee stopped the bout at 2:45.
