Okhello, Ouma lose world title bids

In Moscow over the weekend, Oleg Maskaev made an easy first defense of his WBC heavyweight title, winning a unanimous decision over unqualified challenger Peter Okhello. The judges scored the bout 120-107 (twice) and 118-109. With Nicolai Valuev, one of the other three heavyweight title claimants, and former champion Vitali Klitschko in the audience, the 37-year-old Maskaev (34-5, 26 knockouts), Maskaev scoered a fourth-round knockdown but was unable to finish Okhello off. Okhello, a 34-year-old Ugandan who lives in Japan, dropped to a reported 18-8, while his countryman, Kassim Ouma, who lives in the U.S., dropped a world middleweight title challenge to Jermain Taylor. source: associated press
