Is the Writers Strike Fueling Talks?
The Los Angeles Times has reported that the UFC and CBS are discussing multiple prime time network fight specials. This would be a major marketing move by the UFC which has championed the use of basic cable in fueling their PPV sales. There is no telling the impact that network TV could have on MMA. Earlier this year, Star Boxing was in negotiations with ABC to air an Antonio Tarver light heavyweight fight but those plans fell through when the appropriate advertising could not be secured. According to MMA Fightline, the writers strike is fueling the talks between the UFC and CBS because the network needs unscripted programming. Source: MMA Fightline and LA Times  Â
