Eight of the eleven weight classes have been decided at the U.S. Olympic trials in Houston. Flyweight Rau'shee Warren has qualified for the 2008 U.S. Olympic team, duplicating his 2004 feat. Warren stopped Qa'id Muhammad in the second round. Light flyweight Luis Yanez earned his berth on the Olympic team by defeating Malcolm Franklin, 35-11. Providence's Demetrius Andrade, decisioned Keith Thurman, 21-13 to win the light middleweight spot on the national team. Middleweight Shawn Estrada won for the second time against heavily hyped Daniel Jacobs, 24-14. Despite Jacobs' loss, Brooklyn, New York locked up a spot on the Olympic team as lightweight Sadam Ali beat Miguel Gonzalez 22-10. At light welter, Javier Molina topped Danny Garcia 26-12. Late blooming Christopher Downs is America's light heavyweight representative after defeating Yathomas Riley, 21-11. Heavyweight Deontay Wilder beat Quantis Graves to win the trials in the 201-pound division. Three challengers won their bouts, forcing a final bout on Sunday:bantamweight Gary Russell decisioned Roberto Marroquin, Hylon Williams, Jr., nipped Raynell Williams Ohio, 20-16, and super heavy Michael Hunter doubled up Kimdo Bethel, 14-7. source: USA Boxing
