Jake Paul W8 Mike Tyson... If you are a Mike Tyson fan, be happy for him. Tyson looked every bit of his age (58) fighting Jake Paul last night, and the truth is Paul probably could have knocked out Tyson if he wanted to. But he didn't instead cruising to a wide unanimous decision over eight two-minute rounds in Arlington, Texas. Still, Saturday was a night to celebrate the legacy of Tyson, who had one of the great runs in heavyweight history in the late 1980s, then lived a tumultuous life in the 1990s, going to jail for sexual assault, biting off a piece of Evander Holyfield's ear, brawling with Lennox Lewis at a press conference and battling mental illness. But Tyson persevered and is now a relatively normal human being as he approaches his 60s. The 70,000+ fans who showed up to catch a glimpse of vintage Tyson didn't see anything special, but Tyson got his flowers. He received the love of the fans, the respect of probably the biggest current draw in American boxing, and millions of dollars for his efforts, perhaps as many as a reported twenty million. And he didn't get hurt. Tyson will enter his 60s with health, wealth and sanity, and hopefully a bizarre interview or two. For Tyson's true fans, those are all reasons to smile.
